Story Books is an alternative rock band from London in England. Kristofer Harris, Robert Wilks, Joseph Whitnell, Andrew Parry, Thomas O’Leary and Jack Tarrant are fast garnering support from a breadth of music fans.

This is what lo-fi can sound like when the production values are smoothed out. The wide open spaces and minimalistic music are captured superbly, in a case of – less is far more powerful. With an extensive line-up of players Story Books is able to draw on incredible reserves of muscle, yet they don’t, rather using sheer torque to turn over the material which captures some delightful floating clouds.
The band works by each player adding to the context of the music, rather than concentrating on an instrumental virtuoso performance. A delightful vocal ties the sounds together with a silken knot.
Do expect to hear more of Story Books in the coming months as the radio friendly sounds will undoubtedly gather momentum. This is a band to take out in the evening after a hard day at work and set the listener in a more relaxed and calmer space.
I particularly enjoy how they are able to slow down the pace and volume yet still deliver an immensely powerful and capturing sound.
