Fear Report
Fear Report from New York in the USA is a five piece rock band that has been around since 2009. Dan O’Berry, Rob Trail, Sasha Shenoy, Brendan Clements and Anthony Ricardo have a couple of releases behind them, the most recent being the thirteen track Pandemic which came out in February 2012.
A genre full of bands, many of which sound exactly like each other, so it is always worth a moment to explore a rock band offering something a bit different.
The to be anticipated sounds emit from the speakers, but it has a harness around it and instead of careering off on some obscure trajectory, Fear Report reign it all in and it is the scintillating instruments and guitar which are given a run out rather than the number 11 recording level button. By allowing their music to travel in to the room at a sensible recording level they permit the ears to grab hold of the music and listen to the composition rather than a wall of noise. This could easily back-fire were the skills and song-writing weak, but Fear Report comprises of highly competent musicians and they are able to hold a song together.
I can say for a change, I listened to rock and came out feeling better for it. The fifth member of the group is used to enable the band to explore the song structures in a more intricate manner whilst retaining the power-ball of sound to be expected and we are left with an out-put that contains all that is wanted of a great sounding rock band. Some superbly delivered run-outs of guitar and drums become the core to the tracks rather than weird addendum’s for an ego to pump itself in to a cartoon on a Steroid overdose.
