Sitting comfortably in the ears, Willie Ames is one of those hard working solo musicians who provide a steer to new musicians. Through graft he has been able to tour extensively throughout the USA and in the mean time release an LP – Night Owl.
The combination of the acoustic guitar and folk should be something I don’t engage with, but Willie is able to pull something extra out of the bag and produce some interesting pieces of music with the alternation of instruments and slightly more rock driven on occasional. There is much in the tool-kit to engage music fans across a diversity of genres and not least of all is the delightful vocal and well written lyrics which reflect on everyday life experiences and flights of fantasy.
The use of finger pick and slap techniques on the strings give the instruments an additional quality and depth of sound that keeps the listener hooked.
Well worth taking a run out, even if you consider yourself the most hardened four piece rock fan as there is much to connect the two.
