The Metric System

The Metric System, from Charlotte in the USA are a three piece mellow rock out-fit and the music seemed just perfect for the down-time between Christmas and the New Year. David Dorenfeld (vocals / guitar / piano / drums), Sean Beck (vocals / bass / percussion / synth / woodwinds) and Olivia Neal (drums / vocals) are emerging with their well constructed compositions.

The Metric System

Mellow rock is an easy genre to discard on the assumption that middle of the road means mediocre, but this is far from the case, there are some superb musicians who create music in this sector. They are fighting a battle with high energy and classic rock so to rise above the parapet takes some ability. The Metric System have enough inventiveness to create a sound of interest, while strong song-writing and composition skills mean the music retains the tightness to be expected.

The trio manage to pack a disparate range of instruments in to their material, will enables the band to spread their wings a little ensuring the listener remains focused to find out where the journey will take them next. The switching of vocalists keeps the sound fresh and they are able to experiment with different sound-tracks to create something new on each piece of music.
