The Delta Mirror
The Delta Mirror from Los Angeles in the USA, started life as a hip-hop duo- Craig Gordon and David Bolt- in the ’90s and have developed to a gothic shoegaze outfit since the addition of Karrie K on Bass.
Atmospherics waft from the speakers creating a warming cushion of cloud in which to lounge. A myriad of instrumentation locks in to the ears as measured vocal completes the embrace. The Delta Mirror are a band, who command full attention, as the complex layers expose deftly constructed stories through the mist.
As they wend their way through a suite of sounds, The Delta Mirror strike a range of poses – architectural compositions are shown off stage to be replaced by dream swept psychedelia and on the odd occasion hip-hop influences come creeping in to the spotlight.
The trio combine superbly retaining an engaging style of music, regardless of where the roots may lie. All the way through the process, the listener remains cocooned in a web of sublime mystery.
Well worth taking some diary time to explore.
I am delighted to have found a video for A Song About the End, an exemplary piece of music which immediately gets a star on my all time list. Eight minutes of iconicity.
