Fun Fact

Well how could I ignore more than a touch of rock-a-billy as the day took a decidedly better turn when I hit play.  For an orchestra Fun Fact have a huge musical range of influences, but they aren’t an Orchestra – rather a trio –  which extends through blues, jazz, funk and even ’70s UK pop all of which they wrap inside a core focus of good-time rock.

Lacking a double bass the trio are more than able to compensate with a dampened slapped bass that serves more than admirably and it is not possible to take Fun Fact out for a spin without getting physically involved. With the range of musical interests the trio is able to add various mixes to the sound from the slower more moody through to the all out – dance the night away.  Having recently released an EP Funk.a.Billy they are heading back to the studio to record some more tracks.

The recorded material is superb, it is in live performance that it becomes trickier as playing bass and sax at the one time isn’t realistic, so I would personally either like to see the line-up extend or add a session player as although the drive an energy remains, it is the full complement of instruments that makes Fun Fact a rip-roaring band.
