Three of the tracks feature those with whom Bill Boulden works alongside on various projects.

Fact or Fiction – ft. Chapin – opens with a computerised voice laying out the background to the track and the EP as a whole, which then pours in to the electro-synth whirls that surround the lyric like a choking smoke, with snatches of the vocal appearing through the clouds.

Blind Hunter – ft. Aaron M is a far more introspective piece with the lyric taking on a self-appraisal. Again opening with a synthetic voice the vocal is left to hang out of the front of the track as the pelts of music lay a cushion on which the voices are left exposed as they deliver their soul searching excoriation.

Natural Order tears off pulsating bass as the track explores the cynical materialism of a world ever chasing the next new.

Train of Thought challenges the ‘natural order’ with superbly laid out electro beats which capture the listener in a wave of rolling tempo changes.

All Is Dust – ft. Laura finds us on the penultimate track and an even darker ethereal mood pours in to the room. The duo of Laura by Spruke was reviewed in February 2012.

Concluding a well written and delivered EP shining a dim light on the human condition finds the appropriately melancholic One With Nothing.

Factor Friction is an EP which has much to recommend it to euro-electro club fans as well as those who find moody lyrical challenges more appealing.
