The Reactors

The Reactors from London started life when Chris Socrates (Guitar and Bass) saw an advert in Loot by Justin Crawford (Vocals and acoustic guitar) in late summer 2008 with a further Loot advert bringing in Robbie Fuller (Drums). Despite numerous auditions and adverts they are still on the search for a bass player (drop me a note using the contact form if you know of anyone and I will forward it to the band).

The Reactors

With their diversity of musical tastes and method of getting together, you may expect this to be a band heading for disaster, but far from it. They get on well together and all enjoy creating the sound of the band from basic jamming sessions, which are recorded on to a recorder. A CD is generated and the band sets to work in making a final song.

It will be of no surprise I am fully in tune with the home grown nature of the band and it is exactly this type of natural creativity about which I enjoy writing.

As I wrote on another piece, I came across The Reactors by chance, see the gig review and thoroughly enjoyed the music. After the gig we spent quite along time talking and Chris has also provided me with some additional background on the band.

The music is clean and uncluttered with the lyric reflective of daily life experience. The guitar makes no use of pedals which is reflective of the no-nonsense sound that marks out The Reactors. Justin provides a distinctive vocal and the strength of drumming by Robbie generates a sound which doesn’t appear to miss the lack of bass guitar.

With harder edge fast tracks mixing some superb guitar work The Reactors bring the sounds of ’70s influences bang up to date.

Working hard to secure gigs in London they are well worth taking a trip out to see live.

It will be interesting to hear The Reactors once they have found a bass player as this can only add further depth to the music.
