Letters

Letters is an indie band from Edinburgh in Scotland, that in addition to the expected instrumentation adds Cello to the mix. Although formed in 2010, the band has undergone some personnel changes and much of the material was originally penned in concept prior to Letters coming to fruition. The current line-up is: Kerr Donaldson -(Drums); Dougie Fuller (Bass); Georgie Williamson (Cello / Vocals); Ed Ellis (Guitar / Vocals) and Mikey Ferguson (Guitar / Vocals).

The drama added by the Cello marks the band out for more than a second glance as the songs, composed to fully utilise the impact of the instrument, are fine pieces of writing. But there is more to the band than just one instrument and the vocal stands out as it perfectly suits the compositions, whether a single voice or in chorus.  Then suddenly the plethora of instruments is let off the leash and the whole unit toys with the ears, as luscious textures are inter-twined with full throttle rock.

Letters posses an engaging highly listen-able quality, which feeds itself effortlessly in to the mind, entrancing and with a hint of the legends engraved in the moors and glens.

Already established in the local circuit, it will be good to see them spread their wings south of the border. A busy year is set ahead for the band with the release of the single The Half Way House, due out on 19th March and their debut EP Older Motion Pictures scheduled for 19th May.
