Nolita View
Nolita View is a four piece alternative indie band from London in England comprising, Jon Chantarasak , Mike Clarke, Will Jacks and Alex Smyth. You may recall this line-up from a band called Fez – who were reviewed back in January 2010 and you will have guessed this is a name change and what more appropriate time to update?
The distinctive vocal, upper register guitar work and rolling drum is instantly recognizable, there is, unsurprisingly, a more flowing and confident sound that emerges from the band as they take on some fairly complicated song structures and deliver it with nary a sweat. The name change makes perfect sense as this is a far more sophisticated space.
A new eponymous EP has already been delivered which is a decent place to get to grips with the new nuances. I must grab an interview with the guys to find out what has been going on in the intervening two years and why they decided to relaunch with a new band name.
Sitting on the higher notes is a difficult space to deliver consistently and I am delighted that they are able to do so easily as the four tracks on the EP ably demonstrate.
