London Commands You
London Commands You is an electro-indie band from Brighton in England with a line up of Nick (Vocals), Chloe (Keyboards, Guitar), Lauren (Drums / Backing vocals) and Oliver (Bass).
I kind of got the sense of an agit pop sound wandering out of the speakers then I read the attached blurb and find a connection of inspiration by Nick of CND sympathies from the ’80s through a politically motivated relative and an active agitator through a different forebear in the Cypriot uprising, which I am assuming delineates the Turkish / Greek divide of 1974.
This is a sound which I am happy to have cleaning out my ears like a cotton-bud as the combination of instrumentation and keyboards are fused neatly together to provide highly danceable tracks, though if you prefer to listen without limbs keeping in time, there is more than enough to engage the brain.
Unlikely to emerge in to the mainstream, there is plenty here to deserve the support of music fans and keep the band in the loop for some time to come. They have a variety of platforms on which they will engage an audience and I hope they do find that space. Where London Commands You sit between the stool of pure agit electro-rock and Clubland is I guess the dichotomy they will resolve in time as at present it doesn’t do either with fire, but it does both with a warming ember, deserving of support.
I look forward to hearing how they develop.
