iremembertapes.
iremembertapes. is an indie-electronica out-fit from Brighton in England. The trio of Tom Ferry (Vocals), Al Tutt (Guitar / Programing) and Ben Airey (Bass) released their new LP Human Architecture on the 13th March 2012 through The Animal Farm Records.
I was taken in a time-capsule to the ’80s New Wave scene when never mind remembering tapes, most people used vinyl, but fortunately iremebertapes. is far more than a retro re-make. The music contains a dark moody feeling which is enhanced by a contextual vocal, all of which is driven along by energetic synth waves.
The intoxicating beats worm their way in to the ears before massaging the brain in to a trance of dance. This just demands a flashing strobe and a room full of late night revelry and I would envisage iremembertapes. to be a band who stir the emotions in live performance. That isn’t to say the recorded material is lacking, as this would be a great fit for a get together with friends in a party mood.
The swagger of the out-put sits perfectly to the material, this is music which exudes confidence which can’t help but rub off on the most timid wall-flower. It isn’t possible not to puff out the chest and feel good about yourself and life whilst this is spinning through the head.
