Clean Bandit
Clean Bandit is a collective based in London, England. The core of Jon Wandeck (Bass, Saxophone, one deck), Luke Patterson (Drums) and The Chatto Quartet collaborate with various vocalists.
The genius of the Clean Bandit collective is the way in which the classical compositions are undiluted, whilst playing inside an indie-pop framework. Strings soar out of the speakers and are combined with club-night tempos. The music has a timeless quality and effervescence which raises a smile to the face along with ears which remain firmly fixed on every bar which emerges. The collective switch tempo and mood with alarming ease and more importantly retain a sense of perspective within the track.
There is much going on with each song, yet Clean Bandit, manage to retain a sense of purpose and direction with the material. The use of a range of vocalists adds much to the over-all intrigue of the collective as the audience waits to hear where the sound will be heading next. The compositions remain of the highest standard regardless of the direction travelled, which says much about the quality of the players.
Garnering significant space both in radio airplay, they will also be busy on the festival circuit in 2012, with appearances which include Secret Garden Party and Bestival.
The EP UK Shanty which was released at the end of February 2012 is available on *
