Krakatoa from SE london in the UK are a 5 piece band with perspective on current day events. Darien Smith (Vocals / harmonica) Jack O’Shea (guitar / Vocals) Andrew Monin (Bass), Josh Schwegler (Guitar / vocals) and Josh Boulton (Drums) form a tight and energetic outfit with a message not of despair but of change.

Krakatoa

Krakatoa are a high energy band who take influences from the ’60s and ’70s and turn their focus on issues facing us now, recent songs looking at the recession and bankers bonuses, do not slump into songs of despair but ones of change.

Their enthusiastic playing and pared back production leave clean songs with clear messages and an infectious sense of hope. They switch easily between powerful bass driven pieces and slower thoughtful material, with lyrics which are typical of South East London, direct and self explanatory.

As a SE Londoner by heart myself, it is always great to hear bands from this area who 20 years after I stopped playing are still pushing out the message that it is up to us to take control of our own lives.
