FM Belfast

FM Belfast marks a foray into Reykjavík, Iceland where I find the couple Árni and Lóa who formed the band in 2005 as an idea to send music to their friends, soon found Árni Vilhjálmsson and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason and here we sit, except we don’t really, as they say sometimes, you will find up to 40 on the stage with the collective of FM Belfast.

FM Belfast

I can do nothing other than feel happier for a freshening shower of FM Belfast. There is an acerbic wit to the vocal, which is couched in a supine mockery, over-layed by some invigorating beats.

Politics and superb dance beats can work and the band proves it to a tee. I am attempting to head back to the keyboard to get to the next sentence, whilst the band whisks me away on some kind of a Dervish motion across the room. ‘Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated’ Lydon asked at the last Pistols gig, I am wondering about ‘Ever feel you’ve been Yo-yo’d', as FM Belfast send me on another whirl of the room.

Smart pinstripe electronics melt against a warming vocal as the band enclose the audience in first rate scaffolding.
