Papercuts

To my ears, they have a range of influences from the ’60s to now, both in the recording sound and style which serves as a reminder of many concepts and is loosely Indie Pop. Unlike many bands in this genre, they successfully transition between acoustic tracks, through faster bass numbers, mixing individual notes on the guitar with the slide of the keyboard.

Jason Quever (vocals and guitar) is who the band revolves around, with Graham Hill (Drums), David Enos (keyboard), Frankie Koeller (Bass) completing the line-up. Having been around since 2000, they have managed to avoid the over dubbing found in so many established outfits. The music is evidently played and created by accomplished musicians, which can to me, be such a turn-off, they do not let these capabilities get in the way of the music, which is inventive and moves from mood to mood with consummate ease.
