This combination makes for a refreshing musical style which reveals more depth and complexity on second and third listening. This doesn’t mean the music is inaccessible, as on first hearing her warm voice leaves an immediate impact.

Her debut album, ‘Rays around the sun’ contains on the surface, love songs about a longed for partner, but it is never clear who or what that may be and it is this ability to turn what could be the mundane into something creative and exploratory which sets the Album and Juliet outside the run of the mill lyricist. Having developed her early career in Denmark, Juliet Gough has recently started a tour in the UK, prior to heading off to the US, where there is a rapidly increasing audience and she is tipped to appear in the Woodstock commemorations.

The depth and clarity of her voice reminds me of Eva Cassidy, with that same ability to completely wrap up the listener in the moment. The only surprise is that it has taken this long for Juliets’ vocal skills to be recognized by a wider audience.
