Zsa Zsa Ketzner
Zsa Zsa Ketzner is a band from Wichita in the USA who play what can best be described as psychedelic Instrumental Rock. Isaac Burrow (guitars / bass / noise / space sounds / yelling) and Kerry Burrow (drums / percussion / weird faces) Daniel White (guitars / synths / keys / bass / pearly smiles) Kellen Monette (Bass / keys / piano, guitars / old man dances) plus others have stripped away the vocal to enable an exploration of sounds and constructions.
There is a tipping point to rock instrumentation when it just drops off the edge and becomes a monotony of self-indulgent noise, Zsa Zsa Ketzner manage to avoid this as they add layer of texture and instrumentation throughout the tracks, so in fact as the track extends so the work becomes clearer – something akin to painting and they don’t add a brush stroke too many to the compositions.
It is music in which to settle down and let the sounds take over, to put it in the vernacular, just go with the flow. As with all experimental and stretching music, you do need to have be in the right mind-set, so while there is a repeatability about the music, it wont necessarily become the music which you naturally gravitate until you remember it is in the catalogue. Where the strength lies is in the ability to gently cushion the good vibes running round your head and extend that feeling.
I would recommend adding this to the files. It will be interesting to hear how far Zsa Zsa Ketzner can continue to develop the sound and where they head to next.
