The Humans is the drone rock quartet of Dan, Dave, Dave and Damian from New York in the USA.
The Humans
Drone is a sound that on occasion settles in to my ears with comfort and I happened to be in one of those occasions as the email landed. The material is dipped in psychedelic ’60s rock and phased to appear that the music is recorded from in the cellar with the band in another cellar room, yet it all slides in to perspective and the listener is left with a feeling that this can’t be quite right. Sufficiently off-key to be disconcerting, but landed each time on just a half-pitch out of synch that you know these guys know precisely what they are delivering.
The Humans have a string of releases behind them. The latest being It’s Only Make Believe which came out in November 2012 and is available on 
*. This is music that can be played as the central concentration point or equally as a mood setter to another space, it functions equally as well in either mode. The one thing I would say, is that if you are planning on going out for a run, then this is perhaps not the best band to select to take with you, as you may well find yourself in a state of somnambulism, such is the echoey quality of the sounds that float in to the ears.
