Superhumanoids
Back in 2009 the multi-instrumentalists Sarah Chernoff (Vocal +), Cameron Parkins (Vocal +), Max St. John (bass +) and Evan Weinerman (Drums +) formed Superhumanoids, in Los Angeles in the USA who have since spread their music far and wide.
The adage ‘less is more’ can in may ways be ascribed to Superhumanoids, who have mastered the art of indie pop, yet… The plethora of instrument and complex compositions are also a sublime strength. It all comes together as something very easy on the ear.
Simple music is often the hardest to compose, Superhumanoids manage this with ease, as the entrancing vocal whisks the listener away to spaces that are enhanced by the accompanying music, which plays the listener as a foam gun. Gentle bubbles bounce across the cortex as the encapsulating vocal places velvet ties across the wrist – enticing, warming and comforting, yet simultaneously powerful.
I could write far more, but better to take a listen, as I will do on more than one occasion.
Well worth catching when they arrive in your home town.
