Ducktails
Ducktails from New York in the USA is the solo musical vehicle for Matt Mondanile, who creates a mulled wine psychedelic pop sound. Having started in 2006 with give-away releases to his friends has developed his out-put to incorporate the solo material, as well as working inside band. Ducktails is distinguished by the unplanned improvisation, of experimental music.
Ducktails, out-put is a hazy mirage of felted guitar, as Matt experiments with a soft waterfall of sound, as the back-drop to his material. Highly wowed guitars are met by clearly defined beats, as the music drifts in to a ’60s/’70′s reverie of gently pulsing music.
Matt explores a variety of musical melodies, creating some interesting sounds. Sitars, bells, rock guitars all seem to rear themselves for momentary exposure, before being wafted away in a gentle breeze. The music is layered with instrumentation, which despite the complexity manages to fall on to the ear as a gentle mist.
A highly creative musician, Matt manages to generate music which retains a core focus, while a gentle wash turns the out-put into a comfortable and restful space.

A great exponent of improvised experimental music, Matt Mondanile, through the vehicle of Ducktails makes for an interesting cocktail, which is a pleasure to add to the Indie Bands Blog.
