Space Creator Band – Who Rode the Chariots

Space Creator Band, the outfit from North Carolina who seem to release something new as frequently as I post an article have come up with another eight track offering – Who Rode the Chariots.

Opening with Flip the Switch, which sees the band in their home ground of reverbing guitars and rapped lyrics, Space Creator Band set out the stall for the release.

Johnny Photon finds a flip of the dial and they are off to a more experimental theme, with a plethora of electronic feedback to fill the ears.

This Peace points directly to an urban conflict, as they cleverly blend guitar, synth and vocal to a space, which somehow springs a Kwala beat to the central US urban landscape.

And just to create a complete juxtaposition, Apes those days, whisks the listener away to the West Indies and reminders of The Clash, with some well constructed syncopation. A track which had me smiling throughout. Complex if you want it to be, or a simple tune to let your ears feed on as images build in the mind.

The appropriately named Opposites appears next, which as with the experimental nature of Space Creator Band, creates no tension within the release. Rock riffs, meet the band with-out a scent of compromise – great piece of blue sky thinking.

Starchild Conquest continues the rock theme, as the listener is launched to a new space, but as always cradled with precision and natural progression.

Second Pass, pulls me back to the sounds of Canker Opera, so how could I not like it. Sounds emanate from all sides crashing in to the ears, forcing a response.

SBC Nation concludes the release with a return to the signature sound.

Who Rode the Chariots is a superbly constructed release, as would be expected of Space Creator Band, all forms of life can inhabit here.
