Galapaghost | Neptunes EP

Galapaghost, the vehicle for the solo artist Casey Chandler, has recently released his EP, Neptunes, which takes him on a voyage away from the emphasis on the Ukelele, with great effect, as he adds genuine emotive depth and good songwriting skills.

The six track EP opens with Aloner, which sees Casey in a reflective mood and is a great opener to the EP as his voice is given full reign to generate a powerfully emotive track.

Beauty of Birds is more upbeat and the mix of instrumention generates this is a track with some well constructed ranges and showcases his songwriting style.

Solemn, Galapaghost takes me on a reflective road trip. At just over a minute long, with no lyric, it does everything it needs to superbly. In my view the most powerful track of the EP.

Human Unkind is yet another look in to the soul of Casey Chandler and it is this opening of the emotional space, which draws me to artists like Galapaghost. As a solo-artist there can never be a question when raw material such as this is exposed we are being allowed to share an important space. As every regular reader of the site will know this type of music doesn’t sit naturally in my head space, but at the same time, know equally as well, it is this sort of emotional rawness which I absolutely respect, which is why artists such as this deserve prominence on the site.

Don’t Break Go and Break My Heart, has reminders of writers from the ’70s and I found myself taken back to Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The final track track finds Neptune and a really interesting route, that I hope Galapaghost explore further. This works superbly, with a fuzzy electronic bass and strength of tempo, whilst retaining the essential elements at the core of the output. It has that room for me to involve myself emotionally in the music that is in Solemn, with some direction powerful steer from the band. I come alive with resonating low range sounds and this made me come alive.

In my view this is an emotionally charged and honest release, which deserves space. Currently available at Galapaghost - Neptunes*
