Sonic Hearts Foundation
Sonic Hearts Foundation is an industrial indie rock band from Glasgow in Scotland. Anthony Henderson (Vocal / Guitar / Keys), Brian Crawford (Guitar / Synth), Thomas Crawford (Drums) and Conor Dixon (Bass) got together in 2010 and after considerable nationwide success in live performance recently released their debut single The Storm.
The sound could have been riven out of Queen Elizabeth Square flats in The Gorbals, as the viscerally charged and unrelenting drench of decay shrouds the room. The band utilise both the keys and guitars to bathe the music in a dark imagery of industrial malaise, while the bass and percussion relentlessly reverberate through the brain. The material is, despite its impact delicately written as the song-writing skills are of exemplary order. A vocal which resonates with the timbre superbly rounding off the atmospherics.
Sonic Hearts Foundation is playing wisely with their style as this environment is one which although somewhat despondent is sufficiently well constructed to lead the listener not to head for the razor-blades, rather to stay tuned in to the material and garner some sense of not being isolated as the material draws in the agglomeration of wrongs in to a space where there remains a flickering light.
I certainly look forward the the quartet getting on to their debut album as an evening with a full 30 to 40 minutes would be a delight. The only way to get this now is to head out to see Sonic Hearts Foundation live, which sounds like money well spent.
