Voilet Bones

Violet Bones is an post-new wave indie band from Cambridge in England. The hard touring quartet of Si Dartford (Vocals / Guitar), Rik Hudson (Guitar), Oz Sim (Drums) and Stuart Gill (Bass) have also found time to release their debut LP Decline Of Vaudeville and a new single Chemicals.

Violet Bones

There can be no doubt I have found a further addition to the play-list, Violet Bones hit all the buttons. Spirit, enthusiasm, energy, strength of drum, sharp guitar, driven bass and great lyrics with arresting vocal.

Quality of performance just oozes out of the music, which has the earthy grittiness of garage rock, combined with superbly constructed compositions which enable the instruments to be given full reign, whilst remaining directed. The quartet are able to switch tempo, establishing an ever changing shift of emotion. I am reminded of Sham 69, Tom Robinson Band and Ten Pole Tudor, with an injection of 21st Century indie, which just demands close attention and replay.

The band take the listener of a catchy ride with all the hallmarks of a great band with an outstanding future. There is little excuse for missing Violet Bones in live performance if you are in England and I understand a widespread European tour is being penned in to support the European LP release date.
