This is a slightly different review as I want to consider the Song Writing Machine. The world of music progresses, new means of creating sounds are found, there are the staples of course and through all the sound generating changes, the essential ability to write music and / or lyrics has, with the exception of a few experimental and wallpaper cutters, been a core unchanged requirement for the band.

Now we find that computer generated compositions are beginning to emerge and whilst I like to reminisce of 4 track recordings and one practice and out on the road, with a guitar, bass, drum-kit and vocals along with passion, there is a new world that has emerged over the past 30 odd years and The Song Writing Machine seems like a good place to reflect on where we currently sit.

The appositely named Future Man began life as a Song Writing Machine  randomly generated chord progression and lyric. These were then tidied up by hand, but for all intents and purposes we have here an example of how the world of code generated music could progress. A good thing, or a bad thing?
