Archeo
Archeo is from London in England and is the solo pop vehicle for the 21 year old singer songwriter.
Not trying to be anything other than what he is Archeo has finally enticed me to write about pop music, not because it is pop music, but because this demonstrates clearly that mainstream doesn’t have to mean bleeding ears and wall paper paste. The material is well written and generously composed and can tickle a few fancies along the way.
On the surface pop beats, but on closer consideration the darker mood emerges and the music contains more than half a bar on a repeat loop with some inane lyric. It isn’t going to cut the edges of the envelope, but that isn’t why the music exists, what it does do superbly is to shake the cynical on-lookers of powdered pop to cock and ear and delve in more closely.
That is called creating value to the world of music and while this will never be at the top of my play-list, I heartily recommend taking the music out for an exercise from time to time when the depths of world-weariness hits the soul.
