Deerman

Deerman is a five piece alternative indie band from Sint-Niklaas in Belgium. Sofie (Vocals), Jonas (Guitar),  Anthony (Guitar), Niels (Bass) and Dorus  (Drums) got together in the summer of 2012 and set about playing their wares on the live circuit.

Deerman

A languid Stoner derivative meanders out of the speakers to fold around the listener as Deerman make full use of the two guitars to generate the atmospherics that engross the ears. This is an easy sound for the audience to listen to as the material is given plenty of space to settle, yet the tempo is maintained by a good drum / bass combination that holds the attention and focus.

They are equally able to up the tempo and in this space the quintet deliver a sound that is equally as engrossing, yet harrying – giving a sense of delightful panic that works particularly well. Difficult to believe Deerman has been playing live together for less than six months as they have a proficiency and togetherness that often takes years in which to develop. The vocal is ideally suited to the material as the lengthy notes are allowed to flick around the instrumental like a hunting snake.

Judging by the superb start, I would suggest Deerman has a long way to travel in the industry and a broad international audience will get to grips with the music happily adding it to their playlists. I look forward to what the future brings for the quintet.
